Society of the Year

(Interest & Appreciation) 2017

"I feel that the HPSoc is really well organised for all their events, their weekend away was amazing and the people are so welcoming! You guys really gave me the feeling of belonging!" - Anna, Gryffindor

"HP Soc took care of my cabbages while I was away." - Alyssa, Slytherin

"Thank you all, being a part of this society has made this semester so much better. The memories I have made with you will stay with me for a lifetime...I can honestly say that the best experiences I have had at university so far have been with you guys. I have enjoyed almost every minute I have been with you and I fully look forward to at least 7 more semesters with you and all future members to come." - Ben, Gryffindor

"Personally, I'm not a social person. On a scale of scared of people to the most sociable person in the world, I spend lengthy times considering becoming a hermit. I have difficulty making friends; one person informed me that I have the personality of a cactus.
That said, regardless, this society has given me the best friends I've made in ages, and given me a reason to leave my room on Wednesdays ... and helped me get out of my shell. I doubt there are many societies that shout "GOOD BYE" every time somebody leaves... I based my entire decision to attend Edinburgh on the Harry Potter society (well, and my programme) and it was a really good idea." - Hillary, Slytherin
"This society is the only big group where I have actually been able to get involved in without actively monitoring my speech so that people don't think I'm strange. When I first joined I thought I would end up not going to any the events because I would get too anxious but instead I did and I love going to the meetings." - Hayley, Hufflepuff
